According to the Schilling Report 2017 Swiss Companies have been successful in filling significantly more vacant executive board seats with women. The share of women on the executive boards of Switzerland’s 100 largest companies has jumped from 6% to 8%. Women represented 21% of all of the new executive board members – 4% in the previous year. Likewise, 21% of the vacant seats on supervisory boards were filled by women, bringing the overall share of women to 17%. If Swiss companies want to keep up with the rest of the West European countries, they will have to consistently make progress. The public sector is far more advanced than private business in this regard. The share of women among executive councillors is 24%, while 14% of top executives in the public sector are female.

Meanwhile 83-87% of online purchasing decisions are made by women (comScore report), representing a mixed picture of workers, mothers, carers, home and business owners, of all ages, with different interests and concerns.

This event will look at the work that needs to be done to achieve a better gender balance at the top and whether female leadership can improve the shopping experience for female online shoppers.
