Switzerland is a success story when it comes to logistics and transport, achievements gained through a tireless ability to innovate and change with the times. As online shoppers’ buying preferences continue to evolve, the logistics industry finds itself needing to keep up with the pace; as the customers’ final point of contact with the brand, it is one of the most significant steps in the e-Commerce process.
One emerging trend among Swiss e-shoppers is an interest in Click & Collect services. According to the Swiss Consumer Behavior Report 2016 by Contactlab, 49% of Swiss e-shoppers are interested in picking up their purchases in-store, but only a mere 5% did so in the past 12 months. This clearly represents a huge area of untapped potential, and one Ticino-based fashion brands should be looking at.
To analyze this opportunity and beyond, on the May 18, 2017, NetComm Suisse participated at an apéro-workshop at the Tenuta dell'Or – Agriloro SA vineyard in Genestrerio dedicated to all things logistics. Organized by CRIF (NetComm Suisse Associate), Euler Hermes and Allianz Suisse, the afternoon was informative and fun, proving that business really can be mixed with pleasure.
The event kicked off with a workshop involving speakers with a wealth of experience and expertise. Marco Passalia, Deputy Director at Cc-Ti and General Secretary at Spedgloswiss Ticino, talked about the macro-economic conditions in Ticino and gave interesting insights into the development scenarios of logistics given the creation of the new Alptransit rail link. Our General Director, Carlo Terreni, then explained the opportunities open to Ticino to become a veritable hub for fashion and retail, given the presence of some of the world’s top fashion labels. Mr. Terreni was supported by Giacomo Sabino, Senior Advisor in Supply Chain Logistics & Distribution, who talked about micro-warehouses and demonstrated the importance of being prepared for the radical transformations ahead in this digital era. Organizers of the event, Allianz, Euler Hermes and CRIF absolutely agreed; they shared useful suggestions in this regard and explained the types of synergies that could support businesses in the Ticino Valley.
The event attendees were a lively group, asking questions and sharing their opinions, proving once again our industry’s passion for innovating and improving e-Commerce for consumers, and establishing Switzerland as a global leader.
After the hard work, participants were invited on a guided tour of the wine cellar, culminating in a tasting of the finest local wines. This relaxed atmosphere was the perfect backdrop for a spot of networking, and the perfect end to a successful event.
